The Kansas Federation of Houndsmen was reactivated on December 8th, 2012 at a general meeting held in Scranton, Kansas. This meeting set the stage for the future of this organization. With the help of our members we will bring back the enthusiasm, character and involvement that were once this organizations cornerstones.

The mission statement of the Kansas Federation is: “Working for the advancement and pleasure of all Kansas houndmen”.

It was decided at our annual meeting in April of 2015 that the main focus of the Federation was going to be the youth of the state of Kansas and the nearby states. This will be accomplished by hosting the best youth program, hunt and show that we can do. Without our youth there will be no Kansas Federation of Houndsmen. At our youth hunt and show in October of 2015 it was attended by 60 youth and hounds from Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. With effort and hard work this year’s hunt and show will be even better.

This youth program is done at no cost to the participants. The funds for the youth program come from profits off of our State Adult and Purina Points Race Hunt and Show that we do each spring. Also starting in January of 2016 we are having a monthly hunt at various sites around the state to crown the Kansas Coonhound of the Year . All of the entry fees for these monthly hunts goes directly to the fall youth program.

In January of 2016 the Kansas Federation of Houndsmen achieved Articles of Incorporations. Besides giving us a solid legal foundation, it also gives us a tax exempt status as we are a non profit organization.

The federation continues to have members present at the Kansa Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism meetings that are held around the state each year. This is done to keep us abreast of what is going on at the state level and it also gives us an opportunity to have a voice at this level as well.

Since our reactivation in 2012 the federation is moving forward with our mission statement and our youth program. Involvement of all of our members is important to the success of the Kansas Federation of Houndsmen. If you are not a member we invite you to do so, help those of us who are working very hard to make this organization as strong and meaningful as we can. A strong and working membership is needed for us to keep moving forward.
